This is an acrylic, 12 x 12, I painted earlier this week for Dylan, my best friend, for her birthday coming up on May 26th. I wish I could paint my heart to show her how much I love her.
Thank you very much, SQ. She cried when I gave it to her. Maybe I should stress they were tears of happiness... not "Oh, crap... what am I going to do with this piece of junk?" LOL
Thank you so much. Painting this butterfly for Dylan was a gift to me, too.
Dylan lost her husband, the love of her life, almost 2 years ago (brain tumor and complications from it after a 3 year battle) Almost immediately after he changed out of his flesh suit into his silver one she started seeing butterflies. And not just little butterflies flitting by. Butterflies that would get in her car with her, sit on her finger, land on or near her when she was having a really rough moment missing him. The butterfly has become a symbol for her and all of us who love her that he is always nearby cheering her on to go on, to laugh as loudly as he did, and to embrace life with the gusto he did every single day.
Oh my gosh Lille Diane, I'm tearing up right now! Your painting is heart-warming and beautiful! I was right to make my choice of awarding you the Golden Heart Award, you truly have one! Here is the post: Moving AheadHugs!
The colors you choose seem 'not of this earth' to me... Like another world somewhere. Very fitting for the purpose. What a wonderful present! I would have cried too!
Silver*** "butterflies linked to an unending romance" WOW I'll tell Dylan that. WOW, again.
Hello Herrad! Welcome to the tree house. Thank you so much. The colors are even more brilliant when you see it rather than in a pic. I hope you'll stop back to visit. :-)
Awwww MzzLily, How beautifully put. I said a lil prayer before I started painting because I wanted it to be "her painting"--does that make sense? I felt like I was in another world (surreal, special, tapping into something extremely spiritual) when I painted it. I think that's what made her cry. The painting spoke to her heart. I've never done anything like it before--EVER!
NOLLY!!!!!! Nolly POSH!!!!!! OMGoodness, you're back!!! It seemed like dog years that your puter was brokeded-id. I am so happy to see you again. My world is right now!
Thank you, Nolly....yes I believe I did show her my heart and all the love I have in it for her. She said no one has ever painted her a picture before. I told her it would not be the last. ;-)
PS Superman loves your blog, too. We both pop in and listen to your tunes. I know he will be thrilled to see you back too. You are loved, Vicki, by so many people.
