Self Portrait A.K.A. Face Dancing

No one ever really looks at themselves when they talk. Well, I take that back. I have known some people who cannot look at you and talk if there's a mirror in the room. They watch themselves. Ummmm.... Never mind, that is an entirely different blog topic, and a personal pet peeve. ~~shiver~~ Did I just type that out loud???

Anyway, the video below was edited from another video I made a couple of weeks ago taping me while I told the story of how I flipped my kayak. (You remember that Lucy-like episode???) I gathered 163 frames from the original video, kept them in sequence, and captured the many faces I make while talking. The original film was 2 minutes and 20 seconds long.

Psssssttttt.... JUST IN CASE YOU'RE AT WORK....THE VIDEO HAS SOUND.
It's a great song so crank it up if you can :-)

I probably should go ahead and draw a big D on my forehead for being such a dork. But it is me, goofy faces and all. I never knew I had a so many different facial expressions. I made this for the Creative Every Day Challenge that Leah Piken Kolidas created for aspiring or established artists and for people who just want to explore their creative sides. It's a no pressure, non judging format, and has quite a huge following. If you haven't checked CED out before, I'd highly recommend you do. Leah has inspired me, and helped me keep my focus on my 101 creative to do list.

This month's creative projects focus on "self"--hence my "video self portrait" better known as Face Dancing.

  2. That is cute and hilarious all at the same time. Do you really make all those expressions when you tell a story? Your fantastic personality is showing through in that smile.

Loved it. This ranks right up there on my all time favorite posts list.

  8. Hahahaha, you know what Lille? The video made me smile I was having a "not so productive day" haha, when I saw you, it made me smile. Thanks for that and don't you know that making faces is a good form of face exercise? That's according to my psychology professor who always insist to do the exercise before we start the class, and all of a sudden the class starts to be energetic!

Opie can't watch this without wearing a kitty-sized Depends...Of course he wants his own video of him face dancing... And yes, it appears I do make a whole bunch of faces when I tell a story. I know I can't tell one without making hand gestures so the face must be wired to my hands. I'm making a huge smiley face typing to you.

Thank you for such make-me-wanna-blush comments. Shucks...shucks...and more shucklettes

Oh you made my day! That old Beatle's song, "I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends" Don't we all do that here in Blog Lang visiting each other, inspiring each other, making each other laugh, and taking people places we may never get to see in our lifetime like you just did on your blog. I could only dream of the kind of adventures you live every SINGLE day!
Thank you, AL. I'll go make some faces at Opie and he can make them back at me so we can get up the ummmmppffff to tidy up the tree house.

hehehe Yes, monkey pants. I blogged about Opie wearing his monkey pants which means he is feeling spunky like a monkey. Everyone should own several pairs of monkey pants. You can read more about monkey pants and see a pair of mine if you hit the label "monkey pants"

This is what blogging is all about.... Sharing the wealth of knowledge we have with each other. I'm going to make monkey pants a Wiki word; :-)
Thanks for visiting us at the Tree House.

  32. Hi Lille Diane. I read your bio and found that you have such a compelling life story. I also believe that creativity has the power to heal. You're a naturally creative person, and this will help you get through some rough spots. I'm glad you liked my pictures and feel free to visit anytime.

  33. I didn't get the dork part; I just thought you were pretty.

I CANNOT get Blogspot to let me post a response to the last responses to my own flipping blog, so I will put my response to your response right here, although I don't even know if I can post to YOUR blog. Here goes. I'll try putting it all on my blog later.

Lille Diane "I cannot change (nor would I ever want to) how you feel or what you believe."

Why bless your heart! I'm ever surprised that so many people get their pants in a wad trying to change me. On one level, I find it amusing, but I keep reminding myself that they mean well. It's as if they see a dog with a thorn in its paw, and who could not want to bring relief to such a one? They think that, surely, I have simply overlooked some insight that they might offer, yet those insights are so obvious. I also suspect that, as with your sister, they are distressed by my distress, so their efforts are partially based upon self-interest, and might even contain an element of wanting to avoid looking at similar feelings within themselves.
